NI Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Arlene Foster, has announced the opening of the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme, (RHI) for applications.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will provide long term financial support for those wishing to switch non-domestic or domestic properties from conventional heating to renewable heating solutions, such as biomass; heat pumps and solar thermal.

Domestic customers will be able to avail of upfront payments plus tariff based payments paid annually over a seven year period. Domestic customers who received support under the interim Renewal Heat Premium Payment Scheme, (RHPP) introduced in May 2012 will be able seek accreditation under the new RHI Scheme.

The scheme is open to all domestic properties and will support installations commissioned since 1 September 2010. The scheme will be administered by DETI.
